Help Celebrate Harmony Week at NSDS

Dear Parents/Carers,

Happy Harmony Week!

Harmony day will still be celebrated at the DEM on Wednesday.

Students are invited to wear traditional dress or orange coloured clothing to celebrate cultural diversity. Students will be involved in a range of exciting activities throughout the day with their classroom teacher.

Unfortunately, due to the recently introduced social distancing measures parents and volunteers will not be able to assist with our in-classroom Harmony Day celebrations this year.

Parents/Carers are asked to NOT bring in cultural food for students to share and students will not will not be permitted to share food.

Thank you for your cooperation.

What is Harmony Week?

Harmony Week is a time to celebrate Australian multiculturalism, and the successful integration of migrants into our community. Australia is one of the most successful multicultural countries in the world and we should celebrate this and work to maintain it.

The message of Harmony Week is everyone belongs.

It is about inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all Australians, regardless of cultural or linguistic background, united by a set of core Australian values.

Schools have always been Harmony Week’s greatest supporters.
