Library

The school library teaches a formal library lesson to each class each week. One of two library teachers will provide information on literacy, research skills or comprehension skills. During their library lesson, students may borrow books for home and classroom reading.

Throughout the year the teacher librarian will advise students about literary related activities that they can participate in, such as:

  • The NSW Premier's Reading Challenge (PRC)
  • National Simultaneous Storytime
  • Children's Book Council of Australia's Book Week
  • The school's annual Book Week Parade
  • Carnival Book Fair

Parents can assist students and the Library by:

  • ensuring children have a library bag to borrow books
  • ensuring all books are returned or by paying for lost books
  • helping in the library with jobs such as lending and returning books, book repair and covering
  • helping with literary events such as the Premier's Reading Challenge, National Simultaneous Storytime, Education Week and Book Week.
  • donating books - a gesture which is always appreciated
  • enrolling children in the local library.

Please also note that the library is closed during school holidays. If you wish to return any overdue books please put them in the school's letter box, located on McHatton Street.

Everyone is Welcome in the Library!
