Dear DEM Community,
Due to the poor air quality which is forecast to worsen over coming days, the DEM's End of Year Festival has been cancelled for 2019.
This decision has not been made lightly with consideration given to the following points:
- Current poor air quality
- Forecasts of increased fire activity over the next 24 hours which is likely to cause a further decline in air quality
- The number of students with diagnosed respiratory conditions, such as asthma
- The fact that children are significantly more sensitive to air pollution
With regards to parents/carers who have already purchased Rides Passes for the event, via Trybooking.com, this cost will be a refund as soon as is practical. We appreciate your patience while the P&C organises the refunds.
We are also aware of the effort teachers and students have put into their grade dances over the last 6 weeks. The school is currently planning for students to still perform dances on Wednesday 18 December (last day of term) as part of the Year 6 final assembly. There will be more information provided about this in the next week.
It is disappointing for all that the Festival is cancelled, however we appreciate your understanding in having to make this decision.
